Yo
Their was something bugging me about my Cryx army which is why I havent painted anymore until I could put my finger on what. After watching Pirates of the Caribbean, I realised what. I was making a pirate themed army on snow bases! The theme just wasent working so I decided to make this test base with a theme of jungle.
I searched the web and noticed people have been using aquarium plants. Now I wasent totally sold because they were not realistic looking enough. Went to a local aquarium shop and bought some general on offer plastic plants. I decided to paint them and use a variety of flocks... Im pleased now and will continue on with the minis!

Now your showing off m8, very nice basing skills.
ReplyDeleteGreat base and an excellent idea for a pirate - themed army too. I think that as an army that has predominantly dark colors, Cryx calls for more colorful bases. I also used more vivid bases for my Cryx force and it worked just fine. Can't wait to see yours!
ReplyDeleteWhere's the beaches! Pirates man! PIRATES! =P
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! I'm drooling. I might have to look into this game.
ReplyDelete@ Angryhatter, they moved off the beach and are now in the foresty bit ravaging the locals? ... LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments guys!
@Viruk, your Cryx are a big inspiration.
@ Nightrunner, a man of your caliber would make some nice stuff out of this system. Its hard to convert so some of your GS work and resculpts could be awesome.
Ahh good point sir, although I personally would have gone for a wooden deck look for pirates. Just because they are well...pirates! Looking nice as always though, I need to pay more attention to my bases me thinks.
ReplyDeleteAt least now I won't be badgered for basing commissions, you've just pinched my crown :D very nice mate.
ReplyDeleteNah Shane, this is just the beginning! I still havent mastered water effects yet!
ReplyDeleteyo is m1m ever coming back?
