I got a miscast Forge World Korvydae!

Im really gutted look what came in the post:

I rang them up about the jump pack, but I hadnt quite realised how bad the main bit was. I will show them these pics and hopefully get a decent one sent.

Right I finally started these pappies. I built one and to be honest I was a little disappointed. I think SM have got a little dated looking, not very dynamic and kind of squashed. I searched the web and found that by adding a little GS to the joints including the head totally changes the look of the model - basically, spaces things out a little. I think it looks more dynamic and like the the 'rine has full range of motion. Its more obv in the flesh, and now I have this one out of the way I will make more exciting poses.

Still needs a lot of tidying mold line wise etc

 Oh and my Microsol finally arrived, should help with the application of those awesome transfers.

I really like this list I think its fluffy and really hard hitting. All those deep striking units should be a real hand full I think. Land Speeders are annoying in ones so 9 should really be annoying. 

The tac and Stern are my central attack, the rest is there to support them or help them deploy safely, which ever comes first. I can spread the Multi Meltas out one in each squad if I fancy as well.

Im blogging  with the biggest, dirtiest hangover I have had for a long time (work do!) but aside from that Im making the extra effort to make a MASSIVE thank you to Neil, someone I have never met but made time and generously sent me the Raven Guard transfers. TBH its stuff like this that makes you glad to have a hobby like this. Been chatting over the email and yeah, another warhammer mate! Awesome.

Raven Guard Decals out of stock! Help!

Ok guys this may not seem like a big deal but I cant freehand army badges and I use decals to paint over. I emailed forgeworld and they said they are changing printers for the decals and they dont know when they will be back in. To me that could me never or a long time.

This pretty much renders my paint work useless as I apply decals at base coat level. I was planning on having a raven on each of the legs and all sorts. I cant even buy shoulder pads, there are some but they come in a set of five and you have to buy them with helmets, bolters etc and there isnt enough variety to put the whole army in them.

Not sure what to do now. bah

suggestions on a post card.

Raven Guard - A lot of work, but Im ready

I wont bore you all with another 'Im back' post! But well, Im back! I have been fiddling around with my stuff and have decided to do a slow army build of Raven Guard. I like the fluff, I like the speedy stealth and more important of all I fricken love this model and want use it at all costs, even if that means Im not taking a Shrike list - at least I'll be different I guess! The idea is to build an army I can keep not sell and be proud of non rushed paint jobs. Im going to be using FW parts for the vets and fully kit out my infantry with FW beakies and shoulder pads. Also as the army is SM, they should always be reasonable competitive and if not I can easily change dex to BA/SW whatever as long as I keep it fluffy.

Anyway I'd like you guys to comment on my list before I take it to the forums as I know who is advising me. This has always been my weak point, but bare in mind I want lots of vets and that captain, but all crit is welcome even if you think it sucks! I havent got round to reading 6th yet so is based on what I know from 5th and a general idea that 6th likes infantry and shooty stuff as opposed to CC.

The idea is to use the Sternguard and tactical units as my central attacking units with the Vanguard unit supporting them both by coming on in reserve. The sniper scouts and Vindi are the backroom support, they can also sit on objective. The other scout squad in the land speeder storm is an extra utility unit I will use to either support or objective grab.

Thought I'd just drop a post to say I'm out of the hobby. Prolly not a suprise as I havent actually seriously gamed in about a year and a half. I keep trying to get back in and will have a wave of Inspiration, then it dies quick. I cant put it down to a lack of time either as I seem to have managed to find a new hobby (see pic) and spend my time tinkering and biking and getting excited about that kind of stuff! Doing the way of the Roses next week - morcambe to Hornsea (should be Brid but we adapted it!) We want to do it in one day next year...

TBH my problem with gaming is this. I cant make a strong effective list and this has effected my confidence with the whole hobby with collecting and painting... I dont want to keep pumping money in on stuff that 'might' work, or spend hours painting shit that doesent work, or worked once before i painted it... if you follow!

RE-BOOTING.................

Long time no see! I have been away from the hobby to long, but I think the break was good, as I have got into cycling and stuff which I really enjoy, but he lure of new 40k was to much to resist!

I am approaching the hobby differently this time and am going to take my time with everything. Be it absorbing the rules, collecting and painting - no more rush jobs. My army choice will be based on model count and awesomeness. I like painting individual models so more characterful models with much less numbers is the way forward for me. Also Im collecting on a painted basis, when its painted I get a new box. Basically im taking away the bits I dont like about the hobby. I do want to get to a tourny, but if its not this year so beit!

Im starting off with a Draigo Wing list.... not sure on the full list yet as I need to take in the new rules and GK dex - see my plan i working already!

I sold all my Chaos stuff, just wasent getting on with it, but I will return to 'The Thirst' one day... no doubt!

Finally Some Action!

Ok, I am slowly clawing my way into the hobby. I have completely ditched 40K for now and waiting for the new Chaos dex and new rules before I commit to building an army. I want to theme and to do that without a dex is army suicide!! So in its place im focusing on WFB for the next 8 months or so.

I needed an army that will gently allow me to spend as little cash as pos and also be tourny friendly (that means low in numbers to me!) abd easy to get paints. I think Ogres fit this bill really well, but Tomb Kings also have my attention so I may do them later in the year.

Just like to thank Drax for an intro game last night... very patient and gave me a really good start, I look forward to the next one where i will hopefully be a bit more clued up.

I have made a slow start to the two boxes of bulls I have, but tbh thats as much down to me getting the right paint job as anything else. This is the third flesh scheme on this models without stripping so the next model should be smoother. Im really pleased with this flesh, its pretty bright (more so in the flesh than on the photo) got a nice ogre'y feel. Im going to freehand some tats on him and I have a nice metal tut Im going to try on the sword that I will post up later this weekend...

Anyway wip so far!

The Thirst!

Apologies for the last false start. I am well and truly ready to get back to it now! I was going to start off with a cheeky Cron army (easy to paint, few models, up to date blah blah) but I got a speeding ticket and I decided to return to my original project that I started last year before the move and baby shinanaighans. bah.

Im off down to the club to have a refresher game with Skaltar on Thurs which will be fun and as I have said I aim to get some summer tournies down.

You can see a preview of my army emblem above that Im going to carry across in banners/armylists etc..

Will try and get a good start made over the weekend!!
